The owner of Thor, a dog in Sao Paulo, Brazil, found his pet with numerous quills impaled all over his body. The golden brown dog’s snout, forehead, nose, ears, and legs were covered in hundreds of yellow quills, as evidenced in photos.
Adriano Bertoline launched a web-based fundraiser after finding himself unemployed and unable to cover a veterinarian bill. His efforts caught the attention of local councilman, Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, who provided assistance by arranging for Thor’s transport to a clinic and helping with the expenses.
According to reports, Thor, who was just three years old at the time, bravely fought a porcupine for the second time within a year, resulting in several severe injuries. In response to discovering Thor with porcupine quills stuck in him, Bertoline made an online plea for assistance in healing the injured dog.
“Hey everyone, I woke up this morning to find my poor dog in a terrible state. Does anyone know of a nearby clinic or veterinarian that can provide assistance? I’m really scared that I won’t be able to pay for the treatment,” the tweet read. Upon seeing the plea for help, Councilman Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari offered to lend a hand.
Adriano expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Apolari on Facebook, saying that she was a blessing in his dog’s life when he couldn’t afford a private veterinarian. Adriano mentioned that he is currently not employed and has four children to take care of at home. According to Adriano, the councilman took his dog Thor to the clinic, assisted with the expenses, and then brought him back home.
According to Thor’s owner, this is the second time within a year that Thor had an encounter with a porcupine. It is unclear what happened to the porcupine after being attacked by Thor.
