On the occasion of Mother’s Day this year, Poppy, an Irish Setter, became a proud mother of 15 adorable puppies. Although the breed holds the record of delivering the largest litter size with 16 puppies, Poppy missed it by just one little pooch.
Lisa, the proprietor from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, couldn’t believe her eyes when she noticed that the puppies were still being delivered one after the other. She was astonished to learn that her furry friend had given birth to a total of 15 newborns.
Lisa Wardle, the proud owner of an Irish Setter named Poppy, was in for a big surprise when her furry friend gave birth on Mother’s Day. Initially expecting to welcome 10 puppies into the world, Lisa was shocked and delighted when 15 tiny dogs arrived instead. Lisa and her family – which includes her husband Peter, and their children Ben, Jack, and Abi – couldn’t be happier with their beloved canine companion. They feel incredibly fortunate to have a dog as wonderful as Poppy in their lives.
Lisa expressed her adoration for Poppy’s sweet nature and her desire for other families to experience the joy of having a dog like her, which is why she decided to embark on this journey. Poppy’s beauty is also something that Lisa finds captivating. To ensure that Poppy was comforted during birth, Lisa took time off work and alternated with Abi to ensure that she was well taken care of.
Fortunately, the woman’s daughter decided to adopt one of the puppies from the litter. This means that Poppy can still have a connection with at least one of her offspring. The remaining puppies will be sold to suitable owners, but Lisa wants to make it clear that her main concern is not financial gain.
Lisa expressed her sadness regarding the inevitable departure of her loved ones, admitting that she would be devastated once they leave. Despite considering the idea of holding onto them, she believes her spouse may not share her sentiments.
